Defiance XRE is a tall fescue grass seed blend that produces a rich dark green turf or lawn that relies less on irrigation and chemical input than comparable mixtures. The roots of Defiance XRE reach deep into the soil for exceptional water absorption requiring less frequent irrigation thus providing a naturally drought tolerant turf grass. Defiance XRE is a tall fescue grass blend that develops rhizomes for a spreading fescue that "knits" together for injury repair. The high level of natural endophytes in this fescue grass blend, has shown proven Brown Patch and other disease resistance. This is an eco-friendly solution to the ongoing challenge of providing hearty lush turf for your commercial application, home lawn, or athletic field.

Defiance XRE Tall Fescue Seed Blend usually contains three or more of the following premium tall fescue seed varieties:
CURRENT VARIETIES IN MIXTURE:
* Leonardo or Rowdy (Turf type, High disease resistance, High turf performance)
* Speedway or Rendition Tall Fescue (Fast Germination, Good Salt tolerance, High disease resistance.)
* Guardian 41 or SR-8650 Tall Fescue (Rhizome type, High disease resistance, Produces high-quality turf.)
*Note: Tall fescue seed varieties in Defiance XRE Tall Fescue Seed Blend and their percentages are subject to change due to seed availability.
Defiance XRE will ALWAYS have two to three tall fescue varieties with rhizomes in addition to one or two top performance tall fescue grass varieties. Contains up to 1% inert material with no noxious weed seed.

Planting & Establishing Defiance XRE Tall Fescue Grass
Planting Rate: Plant Tall Fescues at 8-10 lbs. per 1000 sq. ft. to achieve proper turf lawn density establishment.

350-400 pounds per acre ; 20 LBS will plant 2,000 to 2500 sq. ft of a new lawn
Note: Failure to seed at proper rates will result in a non-uniform density (requiring reseeding to correct)
Over-seed rate: Seed into existing Tall Fescue Lawns:
6-8 pounds per 1,000 square feet or 250-350 pounds per acre
Germination Time:
Emergence in 7-10 days under ideal conditions;
First mowing in 21-30 days;

Defiance XRE is an eco-friendly Tall Fescue Seed Blend featuring two Tall Fescue Grass varieties that spread by rhizomes as well as two premium tall fescue varieties that blend in for a uniform look. The value of Rhizomes are that they give plants the ability to spread densely (tightly) throughout the lawn or turf area and provide strong knitting ability, enabling easier sod lifting and repair. Rhizomes in a Tall Fescue give what is normally a "clump" grass some spreading ability. This high incidence of rhizome fescues combined with other high performance tall fescue varieties, gives Defiance XRE faster recovery from injury, superior wear resistance and better ability to recover from stress than other tall fescue mixtures.
