Groundcover Plants - Shipment Dates:
Our plants ship every Monday for all orders placed the previous week by 5:00 PM EST on Thursday.
Occasionally shipments may be delayed due to weather issues (heavy rain results in plants too wet to ship). Since we ship groundcover orders ASAP after they are placed, please order only if you are ready to plant in your location - we do NOT hold orders for shipment based on weather and location. Shipment of plants is via UPS Ground shipping only. We do not offer postal or expedited shipping methods on plants.
Orders placed after the 5:00 PM Thursday afternoon deadline will ship a week later (2nd Monday after order deadline). - For recommendations on what to plant, contact your local cooperative extension agent or view our

Ground Cover Plants Ground Cover Plants have multiple purposes some of which are: protecting the ground from erosion, covering the ground in shade areas where nothing else will grow, as an alternative to grass for lawns, provide oxygen, or to simply hide an area of bare ground. Technically, grass is considered a groundcover; however in gardening, groundcover refers to plants that are non-grass and used instead of grass. There are four general types of plants that are most commonly used as groundcovers: vines, herbaceous plants such as annuals/perennials, shrubs, and moss.

HELP WITH SELECTING GROUND COVERS:
Although we do NOT offer advice on which groundcover plants are compatible in your area, we do have a
recommendations chart to help you make that decision. This chart is comprehensive and is to be used as a guideline to help you choose the best plant based on location, soil conditions, and plant characteristics. For advice and selection of groundcover plants for your area - Contact your local
cooperative extension agent. Seedland does not make specific recommendations on the use of ground cover plants.
Upon delivery, IMMEDIATELY remove plants from boxes and then water them. Temporarily place outdoors or in a greenhouse. You need to plant as soon as possible, ideally when the proper growing conditions for the species has arrived. Consult with your local extension for planting time recommendations.
Plant bare root plants IMMEDIATELY. Plants in trays may be planted later, but must receive daily care, i.e. water and sunlight. View
groundcovers.com for more planting information and maintenance procedures. |
Note: We sell plants ONLY in boxed quantities listed online. We do not sell individual plants. |
