SUGGESTED PLANTING METHODS:
NEW SEEDING METHOD 1 - BARE SOIL: Prepare your lawn for seeding by tilling them smoothing and raking the lawn to a
point of having a smooth firm seed bed. Plant one bag of the Zenith Zoysia Seed
& Mulch per 1000. sq.ft. -- The seed and mulch are blended to provide an easier
way of planting at the correct seeding rate. Lightly rake the seed bed to cover
the seed and mulch granules no deeper than around 1/4 inch. You can apply straw
if needed but make sure it applied very thin so as to allow in light for proper
germination. Water daily for 30 days keeping the seed bed moist at all times. The
zoysia plants will emerge over a period of one growing season to provide a fairly
well covered sod. During the second year it will fully cover under correct management.
In poor soils or unfavorable growing conditions it can take 2-3 years to cover fully.
NEW SEEDING METHOD 2 - OVER OLD GRASS
Spray the present grass (while actively growing) with a non-selective herbicide
labeled for lawn use such as Roundup. Wait approximately 7 days to make sure all
grass is killed and re-spray any areas that are still alive. Follow directions on
herbicide (14 days on Roundup) for waiting period before planting the Zoysia seed
& Mulch. Spread seed & granules evenly across your area, then aerate well - Follow
directions on bag to complete planting using this method.
