Premium Perennial
BioLogic’s Premium Perennial Blend was developed to provide white-tailed deer with a nutritious, highly palatable blend of forages throughout the entire growing season. These forages have been proven by extensive research in New Zealand, and tested in North America, to allow deer to maximize their antler development and weight gain potential. This is accomplished by using a combination of perennial and annual species.
The perennial portion of this blend provides forage that is high in digestible protein and minerals during the spring and summer, when these nutrients are critical to antler and healthy fawn development.

Premium Perennial is a custom blend of Chicory, NZ Red & White Clover and NZ Forage Rape.
In addition, the perennial components of this blend are extremely palatable and drought resistant, providing quality forage for your herd even during adverse growing conditions.
With the addition of the Brassicas, the large leafed annual species, the blend yields extremely high tonnage of quality forage per acre. The Brassicas selected for this blend make it an excellent source of needed nutrition for your deer herd before they enter the winter stress period. The result is a unique forage blend that truly addresses a deer herd’s nutritional needs throughout the entire growing season.

To maintain this optimum forage rotation in the same plot, simply establish a Premium Perennial plot. Then broadcast BioLogic’s Maximum, composed of the desired brassica varieties, directly onto the existing perennial crop during the early fall portion of the second growing season. Resource managers can expect the perennial portion of this blend to grow for 4 to 5 years if the appropriate lime and fertilizer is applied annually. This blend feature forages that grow in a wide variety of soil conditions and have been shown to average over 30% crude protein and over 80% total digestible nutrients. BioLogic’s Premium Perennial uses a unique blend of forages that provide the type of forage best suited for the annual cycle of a whitetail’s nutritional needs.
How To Plant
BioLogic’s New Zealand Premium Blend will perform best when planted in a firm, well-prepared seedbed. This blend can be easily planted by using a drill, or you can machine or hand broadcast the seed. The seed should not be covered with more than a 1/4 inch of soil. The use of a cultipacker is an excellent method to cover the seed. As with any seed, for best results apply lime and fertilizer as recommended by a soil test. If a soil test cannot be performed, apply a ton of lime and 300 pounds of 13-13-13 fertilizer per acre.

When To Plant:
In the South, BioLogic’s New Zealand Premium Perennial Blend should be planted during the early fall, as soon as enough soil moisture is available for seed germination. Planting BioLogic’s New Zealand Premium Perennial Blend in the spring may limit root growth due to frequent summer drought conditions during the growing season.
In Northern climates, where the soil might freeze before the plants’ root systems are established, it is always better to plant perennials in the spring. In these areas, BioLogic’s New Zealand Premium Perennial Blend should be planted when the soil temperature is 50 degrees or higher and there is adequate soil moisture to ensure germination.
