Developed by Pure Seed Testing near Raleigh, North Carolina, 'Transcontinental' was tested as PST-R69C. Featuring improved turf quality, color, and performance over most other seeded-bermudagrasses,
'Transcontinental' also exhibits improved cold tolerance for winter survival. Tests have shown improved winter survival over most available seeded bermudagrass varieties. 'Transcontinental' also demonstrated outstanding performance in key turf categories such as overall turf quality, color, density, texture, and cold tolerance during 1997-2001 NTEP bermudagrass trials.

More about Transcontinental Traits:
'Transcontinental' also exhibits excellent performance in the warmer, more traditional areas of bermudagrass adaptation, with excellent heat and drought tolerance. A 'low water using' variety, 'Transcontinental' forms a strong network of rhizomes and deep roots. Its ideal for those areas where quality and quantity of water may be limiting factors in the establishment and care of turfgrass.
With an aggressive, prostrate, spreading growth habit, 'Transcontinental' forms a dark green, uniform, moderately dense turf with a fine blade texture in full sun, lightly shaded areas. With moderate salt tolerance and good adaptability to most soil types, pH 6.0 - 8.0, it's an excellent choice for most bermudagrass use.
With less density than hybrid bermuda turf, it produces less thatch and requires considerably less maintenance.
'Transcontinental' mows well with either reel or rotary mower and is more easily over-seeded with perennial ryegrass during the fall for 'winter color'. Transcontinental is a product of Turf-Seed, Inc.
Uses:
For all traditional Bermudagrass uses in traditional bermuda climates, including an extended range up both the East and West Coast. Northern California, Southern Nevada and Utah, Virginia and Maryland are areas where 'Transcontinental' may be used with good success. Excellent for golf, sports turf, park and recreation, medians, home and commercial turf, low maintenance and erosion control turf.
Establishment:
For hulled seed use 2–3 lbs. per 1000 sq. ft. Coated seed: 4–5 lbs. per 1000 sq. ft. Best planted mid-spring through mid-August. Fall plantings are not recommended. Seedbed should be kept moist during germination and early establishment. Germinates in 8–12 days with optimal soil temperatures, 65–80 degrees F. Do not plant with soil temperatures below 60 degrees F. Full coverage in approximately 8 weeks, with light use at 10-12 weeks. Though drought tolerant, all bermudagrasses respond well to ample water during establishment with strong, vigorous growth. First mowing recommended when turf reaches approximately 1".
Maintenance:
For best performance, fertilize at 0.5–1 lbs. N / 1000 sq. ft. per growing month. Deep, infrequent irrigations are best throughout the growing season on established turf. Recommended mowing height: 0.5" - 2". For sports turf venues, best mowed at or below 1". For best turf quality, renovation, aeration, and topdressing are recommended during the active growing season. In climates with cold winters, summer renovation is best. Allow time for full recovery prior to onset of cooler temperatures
Fall Over-seeding:
For winter color, over-seed during the fall with Turf-Seed’s 'Quick-Trans' or other fine perennial ryegrass varieties at 10–15 lbs. per 1000 sq. ft. Consistent moisture is critical during early establishment. Expect ryegrass germination in 7-10 days under ideal conditions, soil temps 60-80 degrees F. Mow when ryegrass reaches approximately 1".
