BENTGRASS SEED

Seedland sells a variety of quality turf type bentgrass seed for turf managers of golf courses and other sports applications. Our current selections of improved turf type Bentgrass Seed are only available in 25 lb. containers, with the exception of Penncross and A-4. Bentgrasses can require extensive maintenance practices including mowing at close to daily intervals for golf course type manicured lawns.

In addition to intensive mowing, the lawn soil area must be properly established so as to include adequate "breathing" for this grass. We suggest you investigate more thoroughly this grass before attempting it for a backyard putting green.

Select your Bent Grass Seed Planting Rate Depending on Your Application

Applications such as golf greens require planting at high rates. New lawns require higher rates than overseeding.

If you are looking for a lawn variety, we recommend Penncross as the best overall choice for home lawns and backyard putting greens. Note that bent grasses must be planted in areas where cool season grasses (Including Bentgrasses) are adapted - In warmer state areas Bentgrass will not perform as a perennial. Check with your local cooperative extension agent for more on planting options.
